'The capacity to prepare for disruptions, recover from shock and stresses and adapt and grow from a disruptive experience’

Sending a warm hello and a virtual hug in a mug … brrr.  I knew Autumn was knocking, but I kid you not, I was wearing my flip flops only a few days ago!  One of these years, I’ll be more prepared, maybe?  I very much hope this newsletter finds you in good health and spirits.

Thank you to all my new readers, lovely to have you on board.  If you’re a regular Gin & Yin-er, you may have spotted that August’s newsletter bit the dust … poof …  I did actually write one, so much so, I was tempted to call this Aug-tember’s News!  The problem was that I’d over used the number of emails I’m allowed to send out via my website platform (who knew?!).  I was so busy communicating all of the many changes regarding my non-events and phahh-not-a-chance retreats, I didn't notice how many I'd sent.  Alas, no point in dwelling on the past – yesterday was heavy as the saying goes, lesson learnt.

So, the word that comes to mind this month is‘RESILIENCE’ for obvious reasons - on a personal front my husband went back the office, admittedly for only 2 days, our daughter returned to school hurrah and our son has started at a new Uni .. Manchester Met … gulp … I haven’t spotted him on the news yet, but if you see a sign saying  – ‘Help - send beer, chicken wings and Nando’s Hot Sauce’ it could be him.  He’s also had a haircut and used the launderette (I only know this as he asked for my PayPal details to pay for it!) so if he is interviewed, at least he'll look tidy and have clean under-crackers on.  Always a positive somewhere if we look hard enough - clearly I do really feel for these guys too, particularly all the new students out there, if you have a child starting Uni this year too, I really hope they're doing ok - I also hope the Universities also step up and ensure all their students are well and have food etc.

Anyhoo, as 6 seems to be the number of the month - I thought I'd share my top

'SIX SUGGESTIONS'  with you, you lucky things ... who knows we might get to 8 next month?

DO:  Do one thing this month to reduce your plastic waste -  I’m trialling ‘Milk & More’ and will do my best not to buy any more milk in plastic bottles - to learn more listen here:

LISTEN: Joe Wicks on ‘Desert Island Discs’ – download the ‘Podcast’ App – it’s free – his personal training sessions started down the road from me in Surbiton - what a smashing bloke - it's a bit sad in parts.

CREATE:  I did a fab ‘Vision Boarding Workshop’ last Saturday with Lara @the_motivation_clinic (see ‘2021 Plans’ on my IG stories) - so much so, I’m going to trial a Gin & Yin Virtual Session – message me if you’d to be first in the know.  Talking of ‘Action Boards’ check out @drtaraswart on IG too – so important to positively plan ahead with all this going on, even if things change.

MOVE:  As some of you know, at Gin & Yin HQ we’ve been doing ‘Yoga with Adriene’ online - she's just launched an October ‘ACTION’ calendar for the month ranging from 3 mins to 56 mins e.g. ‘Yoga for Stress’ – ‘Yoga for Inner Space Travel’- ‘Yoga for Confidence’ designed “to help you get on the mat regularly to cultivate balance and wellbeing” and it’s all for FREE what a gal – I’ll be trying some of these out for sure - To get your copy, go to:  -  Kaz if you're reading this, there's still time : D

PLAY:  I discovered a fun game called 'Scattegories' while on one of my Retreats to Marbella - it's easy to follow and all the family can play it (12 yrs and over I'd say, not because it's rude though or anything, more the knowledge) - highly recommend it for a wet day activity.

BAKE:   I had a go at Martha's 'Balsamic & Red Onion Tart' (thanks to Waitrose), the base is made with rolled oats, flour and butter and is the perfect Autumnal lunch dish - I usually don't make my own pastry, life really is just too short, however, this was easy and totally delicious - If you have a go, I'd love a photo -

What's New at Gin & Yin HQ??

I ran an actual ‘in-person’ (socially distanced) event at The Gin Kitchen in Dorking – what a fabulous afternoon and evening it was too.  Talk about thinking out of the box – our yoga mats were great not only for the yoga, but also our gin tasting stations and food tables in one! – great fun – a wellness with a twist event, just what the Dr. ordered.  I’ll hopefully be back there in the Spring.  To see photos of the event click my Facebook page here:

On the retreats front, even though we saw it coming, it was still sad to have to make the decision to postpone both my ‘Restorative Mountain Retreat’ to Marbella to Thurs 10th – Sun 13th June 2021 and my ‘Down to Earth Retreat’ in Ibiza from next month to Sept 2021 – new dates to be announced shortly.  I am also sporting some rather natty 'pivot pants' and have a few lovely new online collaborations to announce in the next few weeks - who says we can't have fun and stay connected at the same time online - what this space x

Luxury Italian Retreat,

Weds 5th  - Sat 8th May 2021

I'm delighted that bookings are now coming in for this wonderful retreat to Italy next May -  we really are in for such a treat - only a short 35-minute transfer from Ancona Airport with stunning views of the Adriatic coast, we're going to find it hard not to just flop and chill, but explore we must.

The full itinerary is on my website under the 'Retreats' tab - in a nutshell, it includes transfers, daily yoga, incredible food, a pasta making workshop, a gentle bike ride and a dip in the Adriatic sea, a couple of positive self-care discussions, a gin tasting session with a local distiller and of course time built in to 'just be' ... ommm..  I wish I could click my heels three times and be there right now!

What's the Cost:

£975 pp based on 2 ladies sharing a luxury en-suite twin room. Or if you’re seeking a little privacy, £1,300 pp based on single occupancy.  Flights are currently under £100 return.

£200 deposit secures your space.

Yes, I'd love to join you

Thank You!

Firstly, thanks to my mum for making this gorgeous face mask for me, I love it.  Secondly, huge thanks to you lovely lot for your continued patience, support and encouragement ...  it really does mean the world to me that you're out there and you're continuing to book onto things despite all the uncertainty - you know who you are.

Let's raise a glass to resilience - we can't bullet proof ourselves, but there are things we can do, so eat well, move well, sleep well and .... sip well ...

responsibly of course.
