July's News

‘Summer’s lease hath all too short a date”  William Shakespeare

What a crazy month it has been, from scorching hot hard to put one foot in front of the other days, to sheet tossing sleepless nights, to soaked to the skin mad dash in your flip flops days – one thing is for sure, it’s never predictable.

In the midst of it all, I hope you’ve found time to balance the days of doing too much with a day or two of doing very little, if only because it was just too hot.  If not, don’t panic, whilst summer is well on its way, August is knocking, so there’s still time to top up your happiness tank with some simple things.  For me, I’m going to make time to sit in an old bookshop; go to the Columbia Rd Flower Market; enjoy a slow afternoon tea; try and hold a yoga pose on a paddleboard somewhere off the coast near Dubrovnik (on my family hols!).  How about you?

I recently watched Tim Urban’s TED talk on ‘Inside the Mind of  Master Procrastinator’– yes, I’m pretty good at that too - which led me to follow him at: 'Why but wait' where I came across this: It’s a closer look at our days, months, weeks and years in squares - if you need a reason to do things that make you happy, this is it and as Tim says, “be proud of yourself for what you’ve accomplished and grateful for the diamonds in your spoon.”

So grab your diary, your umbrella and a net for catching the moments you’d like to create for your own memory bank before another month hurries by.

What have I been up to lately?

I had a wonderful mini adventure with this group of ladies on a retreat to Marrakech, here we are just about to enjoy our last evening supper at 'Peacock Pavilions' - a hidden sanctuary only a 30 min transfer from the hustle and bustle of the Medina.  We loved and embraced it all - it's hard to believe this place is such a short flight from the UK - photos on my Gin & Yin Facebook page if you'd like to see what we got up to.  I will be back with another retreat to Marrakech next year, so watch this space.

So, what's coming up next  ....

From capsules, to edibles, to bitters, to teas, to skin care products to cocktailsyou name it, CBD (cannabidiol) is hitting the wellness scene in a big way. "the number of people using CBD oil in the UK is now estimated to have reached around 300,000" according to Balance Magazine - However, I'm keen to learn more about it, what's in it, is it safe, what are the benefits?..  is it legal? .. and does it taste good?  If you're interested too and would like to join Cara & I from 'Gin & Interiors' for an evening of curious sipping and social - drop me a line if you're interested and I'll keep you alerted (so to speak) x
